Why are we,

as a nation so obsessed with foreign things?

Is it a legacy of our colonial years?

We want foreign television sets.

We want foreign shirts.

We want foreign technology.

Why this obsession with everything imported?

I was born and have ever remained in

the most humble walks of life.

It is by the goodness of God that in our country ,

we have those three unspeakably precious things,

freedom of conscience,

and the prudence never to practice either of them.
